About TorahSummary.org

Growing up in the Soviet Union, I knew nothing about the Torah or Jewish tradition.

When the Soviet Union fell apart in 1991, the first Jewish school opened in my city and I attended it for two years, until my family moved to the United States. The school was organized by ORT and was secular, but the Hebrew teachers from Israel have told us about the Torah and I was determined to learn more about it.

15 years later I started a thorough study of the Torah using materials at Chabad.org, including Rashi commentary. I found that the Torah was packed with information, and started creating a summary in order to keep track of key points.

In 2014 I created TorahSummary.org, a not-for-profit site which provides an organized summary of the Torah text, along with selected commentary from Rashi. Some pages include additional research, clearly separated from the actual summary. Additionally, the bookshelf page provides a summary of the key Jewish texts. I wrote the entire site code myself, and I am paying for hosting and the domain name. The goal is to help people understand and remember the Torah.

If you find this site useful, please send me a quick email and help spread the word!
